Because sometimes you just need a little soundtrack to get stuff done.

Sometimes when I’m at work I come down with a bad case of can’t focus. Whether it’s because 5 people are all on conference calls simultaneously or there’s a meeting happening that includes lots of laughter, sometimes I just reach the point where I gotta block it out and focus. Now, I was never the type of student who could study or do homework while listening to music. But, when you work in an open-office environment it’s called adapting!
So, I’m sharing my favorite go-to Spotify playlists for when I just need to buckle down and crank out that press release (or whatever else I’m writing that day).
1. Mellow Beats – by Spotify
This playlist is GREAT if you don’t like to listen to music with lyrics while you’re trying to work. It’s also great if most instrumental or classical music puts you to sleep. Think of it like groovy beats that you might hear in a trendy, quiet cocktail bar. Those are the vibes I get with this playlist….and it’s probably my most played focus list.

2. Chill Hits – by Spotify
This playlist is definitely more of the sunshine-feel good type. The mix of chill, mainstream hits is a great soundtrack that I use on days where I just need a bit more energy and don’t mind listening to songs with lyrics. Ya know, if I’m writing social media copy or something that requires less concentration. I also imagine this would be a great one for a mellow car ride, just throwin’ that out there!

3. Georgica Pond & Diamonds – by Johnnyswim
If you like albums that naturally flow, you can easily sing along to without being distracted, and music that will relax you without putting you to sleep – Johnnyswim is the way to go. This husband and wife duo’s music is a healthy mix of folk, soul, and blues, with a pop vibe that all just works beautifully together. Plus, it’s very family friendly and safe to play out loud. One of my favorites.

4. Stoney (Deluxe) – by Post Malone
Okay, okay. Say what you want. But there’s just something about this album in particular that when I listen to it straight through, it just gets me in the groove and motivates me to grind it out. This one is great for researching, writing, working out, or even just cleaning the house. But unlike Johnnyswim, definitely not family-friendly or safe to play out loud at work.

There ya go! 4 of my go-to Spotify Playlists (and albums if you wanna get technical) for getting stuff done! If you have a favorite playlist that helps you focus, help a sista out! I’m always down for discovering new things.
